Commas are great, but we often use them when we should use a period.
Although we learned the comma rules in elementary school, we’ve forgotten when to use them correctly and their usage is often muddled in our day-to-day speech and texting. This sometimes results in comma splices, which are similar to run-on sentences because they also connect two independent clauses.
You have several options to correct a comma splice. You can add a coordinating conjunction after the comma. You can change the comma to a semi-colon. Or you can change the comma to period.
